The Guild

The Guild has enjoyed an excellent session with a varied and interesting programme – as reported in the February magazine.

In February we had a visit from “Mary’s Meals” an international movement to set up school feeding projects in communities where poverty and hunger prevent children from gaining an education.
In March Shona Mason of the Vine Trust told us about the boat which cruises the Amazon giving medical help to outlying villages.  And on 13 May we had our Musical Coffee Evening with the Jambouree Choir. This was made extra special because the young people going to Morocco (see separate article) were present and explained what they were going to be doing. At the end we were able to give a gift of £300 towards their expenses.

The Guild outing was to Linlithgow Palace which was greatly enjoyed by all. After visiting the Palace, the group enjoyed high tea at a nearly restaurant.

During the year we welcomed two visiting Guilds – Bucksburn from Aberdeen and Glen Isla Guild – who also came to our wreath making day in December.

Bankfoot was very well represented at the annual “World Day of Prayer” this year which took place in Luncarty on 5 March. Three of our members took part.  The service this year was devised by Cameroon.
The projects this year which we contributed to were:
•    “Crossreach” providing resources for the visitor’s centre at Perth Prison - £200
•    International Justice Mission which supports and rescues from slavery in the sex trade in
        Cambodia  - £200
•    Various charities - £150
•    We also aided the work force to buy equipment needed to maintain our church.

The Guild is a very important part of the work of our church and community. We welcome any new members!
